The "68 GT350 featured a new split-scoop hood, rectangular headlights pushed outward, and chrome-trimmed taillights. The 289 hi-po Ford engine was replaced with a 302 ci engine. Although Shelby produced a few convertibles in 1966, 1968 was the first year that convertibles were built in mass-quantity. A total of 1253 fastbacks and 404 convertibles were built.
