- The vintage piece listed above is a classic 1960s Italian-made magnetic dashboard cigarette dispenser.
- This piece represents the peak of mid-century Automotive “tobacciana” accessories, a time when driving and smoking were tightly linked and convenience gadgets were considered very fashionable !
- Stamped “BREVETTO” (Italian work of ‘Patent’) & “MADE IN ITALY” on the reverse, this item showcases the clever industrial engineering and accessory design coming out of postwar Italy.
- The item uses a clever, gravity-fed mechanical lever system.
- Loading: The top door flips open on a metal hinge, allowing cigarettes to be stacked horizontally inside the main hopper.
- Dispensing: When you push down on the black plastic thumb slider on the left side, the inner mechanical cradle shifts.
- Extraction: This drop action releases exactly one cigarette downward into the dual gold metal extraction arms at the base, presenting it perfectly for the driver to grab with one hand.
- The black rectangular plate on the back of the dispenser features a built-in magnetic strip, paired with the original adhesive mounting strip!! Designed to be fixed permanently to the vehicle's metal or vinyl dashboard.
- The magnet on the back of the case snaps directly onto that dashboard mount, allowing the driver to securely attach the case while driving, or easily pull the whole unit away when it needed a refill.
- The design reflects the distinct automotive styles of the 1960s.
It features a warm tan-brown faux-leather texture wrapped over a sturdy frame. This texture is beautifully complemented by polished, bright gold-tone metal trim and hinges.
The focal point of the front face is a raised, gold-plated emblem depicting an early vintage antique automobile (resembling a Model T or early open-top tourer), a nostalgic design choice that was highly popular for car accessories of that decade.
The dispenser is in excellent vintage condition.
-Exterior Housing: The tan-brown faux-leather wrap is fully intact with no peeling, heavy scuffing, or split edges.
-Metal and Trim: The gold plating remains exceptionally bright and lustrous, showing none of the severe pitting, corrosion, or heavy tarnishing common to 60-year-old car accessories.
