Factory original jack for the 1955 and 1956 Chevrolet. This jack was in excellent condition when I found it. No old age pits in the metal that is common with these older jacks. The surfaces all are smooth and shows that it was stored inside away from weather conditions that cause that pitting..
Very stout solid core , H or I beam cross section , shaft with nice tight fit into base. Jack head snout is full 2 + inch reach for both 55 and 56 bumpers. ( will not work on 57 bumpers)
I bead blast down to bare metal on the head , base and hook to remove all surface rust , corrosion and old dead paint . Then return to original semi gloss black on the head , base and hook. Matte nichol on the shaft. Finally , I test the mechanism under load up and down.
Works well up and down , ready for your trunk display and use.
