The tail lights will fit the 1981- early 1983Cutlass; however, you would need to swap the 1981-early 1983 tail light bezelmodel Cutlass (with the vertical centerline) to the late 1983 to the early 1988bezel style.

Your original tail light has it as well, but you probably have not noticed it as acrylic tends to lose translucency / clarity over time. The term we use in the engineering field is "Clouding". I am a firm believer of "a picture is worth a thousand words". Well in this case....a video is worth the same.
