The repair is carried out on the original hardware you sent in. If we find it needs more than a standard repair, we message you with a quote first. Nothing extra is charged without your approval.
5Your unit ships back to you
Return shipping is included and goes out standard ground, typically 2 to 4 days depending on where you are. Orders of $400 and over ship signature-required. Faster return options are in section 04.

Upgrades the return leg to an expedited service. Your unit keeps its normal place in the bench queue and the repair time is unchanged. This buys back transit days, nothing else.
$100Rush repair plus overnight return
Bench time drops from 1-2 business days to 1. Your unit moves to the front of the queue, then goes back overnight. The expedited return leg is part of this tier, not an extra charge on top of it. On a badly damaged unit we still work to the same day and will message you straight away if it is going to run longer. Pick this one if the truck has to be running tomorrow.
Both upgrades are completely optional. Standard return shipping is already included in the price and you never have to buy either one. They exist for people who need the truck back sooner than standard ground.
Neither upgrade is refundable. Once you buy one, we schedule around it and it does not come back to you, including when a unit turns out to be unrepairable. If your unit cannot be saved we still rush it and still send it back on the expedited service you paid for.
Message us through before you ship your unit and we will send an invoice for the upgrade, which you pay through like any other order.

Nothing is charged without your say-so. There are four ways a job can go and this is what each one costs you.

What a bench fee is. A bench fee is what a shop charges for the time spent finding out what is wrong when no repair ends up happening. In our case that means opening your module, going over the board and testing every component on it to work out whether it can be saved. That work takes the same hours whether the answer is yes or no. The $100 covers it. It applies in outcomes 3 and 4 above only, and is never charged on a job we finish - repair it successfully and you pay the listing price and nothing more. It is a separate charge from the $100 rush upgrade in section 04, which is the same number but a completely different thing.
If you bought an express upgrade and we do not complete the repair. The express upgrades are not refundable. You paid to jump the queue and to get the unit back quickly, and both of those still happen - we rush it, we find out it cannot be saved, and it goes straight back to you on the expedited service you paid for. The $100 bench fee still applies on top. It is the one charge that does not go away when a unit cannot be saved.
06Warranty
The repair work we perform is backed by a lifetime limited warranty. The word limited is in there for a reason, so here is exactly what it covers.

Find what caused it. We repair the damage to your module. We cannot repair whatever damaged it. A shorted circuit, a chafed harness, a bad ground or moisture in the connector can take out a repaired module the same way it took out the original, so sort that out before you reinstall.
Opening a claim. Message us through Messages with your original order number and the part number on the unit, and tell us what the vehicle is doing.

I have a 2004 truck. Does this cover me?
Depends which half of the year it was built. Early 2004 is LB7 and is covered here. Late 2004 and 2005 are LLY, which this listing does not cover. We do repair LLY modules, just not under this listing, so message us and we will sort you out. Read the number off your module label and match it against section 01, or message us a photo of the label.
Where do I send my unit?

My shop is shipping it, so the name will not match my order.
That is fine, we just need to be told. Put a written note inside the box with your username, your order number and the name on the order, and message us the tracking number through . We match modules to orders by the name on the package, so without that note a unit can sit here while we work out whose it is.
What happens if my unit gets lost on the way to you?
Ship it with tracking and insure it for the value of your module, and hold on to the receipt. That way a carrier claim is straightforward if anything goes wrong on the way here. Our clock does not start until the unit is physically on the bench, so how quickly it gets here is down to the service you pick.
Do I get my own unit back?
Yes. We repair and return your original unit. We do not swap it, exchange it or substitute a different module.
My part number is not on the list.
Message us with a clear photo of the label before you buy. If it is not something we cover, we would rather tell you now than have you ship it.
Mine got wet, or the board looks burnt.
Tell us before you ship it. Heavier damage takes more work, and if yours needs more than a standard repair we quote it through Messages and wait for your approval before anything is done.
Someone already opened mine and tried to fix it.
Tell us before you ship it. A previous repair attempt changes what is involved and sometimes changes whether the unit can be saved at all.
What if my unit cannot be repaired?
We message you with what we found. A $100 bench fee applies for opening and testing the module, the rest of the repair price is refunded, and your unit ships back to you free of charge. Express upgrades, if you bought one, are not refundable.
Will it need programming after it goes back in?
Typically no. It is your original unit going back into the same vehicle, so in most cases the install is plug and play.
How fast is this really?
Bench time is 1 to 2 business days from the day your unit arrives. The rest is transit. If you need it faster, the $100 rush upgrade in section 04 moves you to the front of the queue, brings bench time down to 1 business day, and sends the unit back overnight.
Will I have to sign for it?
Only if the repair comes to $400 or more. The express upgrades do not count toward that total. Above the threshold we ship signature-required to protect both of us against a lost or stolen package. If that is a problem, ship it to a work address, or arrange a hold for pickup with the carrier once you have the tracking number.
My board is completely burnt. Can you still do it?
Usually, but it moves into the extra-work bracket in section 05. A full burn means rebuilding sections of the board rather than replacing a few components, and that runs $300 to $700 on top of the listing price depending on how far it went. It is not a common outcome. You will get the number in writing before anything is done, and if you do not like it, nothing happens beyond the $100 bench fee.

Terms of service
This listing is a repair service performed on the buyer's own electronic module. No new or replacement part is sold or shipped under this listing. Purchase of this listing is agreement to ship your unit to Drivetech for repair.
Turnaround is measured from the day the buyer's unit arrives. Standard bench time is 1 to 2 business days, reduced to 1 business day with the $100 rush upgrade. This is what we work to, not a guarantee.
If a unit requires work beyond a standard repair, the additional cost is quoted to the buyer through Messages and no additional work is performed without the buyer's approval. Extensively burnt boards requiring section-level rebuild are quoted at $300 to $700 above the listing price depending on the extent of the damage. If the buyer declines the quote, or if the unit cannot be repaired, a $100 bench fee applies covering the opening and component-level testing of the module, all other amounts paid are refunded, and the unit is returned to the buyer at Drivetech's expense. Where an optional express upgrade was purchased and the repair is not completed, the upgrade is not refunded and the unit is still returned on the expedited service that was paid for. The $100 bench fee is not charged on a completed repair, and is a separate charge from the optional $100 rush upgrade.
Return shipping is included and is sent standard ground, typically 2 to 4 days in transit depending on the destination. Where the repair total reaches $400 or more, the unit is shipped with signature required on delivery. The optional $60 and $100 express upgrades are not counted toward that threshold, are entirely optional, and are not refundable once purchased, including where the repair is not completed.
Inbound shipping is arranged and paid for by the buyer, who is advised to use a tracked and insured service. Work begins once the unit is physically received. Units must be shipped to 24381 Aurora Road, Unit A5, Bedford Heights, OH 44146. Omission of the unit number may result in the package being misrouted or refused.
Before purchase, please confirm the module part number matches this listing. Diagnosis of the vehicle, removal and reinstallation, shipping to us, and packaging adequate to survive transit are arranged by the buyer. Buyers are asked to pack the module in a rigid box with adequate padding and to insure the inbound shipment.
This listing covers the repair of the module only. Costs such as towing, rental vehicles, diagnostic charges, labor, downtime and loss of use fall outside its scope.
The lifetime limited warranty covers the repair work performed. It does not cover new unrelated failures, physical damage, water or impact damage, or improper installation.
