[CODING TRANSFER PROTOCOL: Mandatory Installation List Backup] The Gateway acts as the master roster for all installed equipment. Technicians MUST connect a diagnostic tool, open Address 19 (CAN Gateway), and manually document or photograph the entire \"Installation List\" before removing the old module. Installing a blank or miscoded gateway will immediately trigger multiple dashboard warnings and disable auxiliary systems until the exact equipment list is coded back in.
[BATTERY DISCONNECT: Protect CAN Transceivers] Unplugging the 20-pin connector while the system is energized can cause severe voltage spikes across the CAN-High and CAN-Low data lines. Mechanics must disconnect the vehicle\'s negative battery terminal before physically swapping the gateway module. Voltage spikes can permanently destroy the CAN transceivers in other sensitive modules like the Engine Control Unit or ABS pump.
