Note
Before installing a new converter, it’s essential to address the following issues:
🔔 Diagnose the Problem: Before replacing the converter, it’s crucial to confirm that the emission error or engine rotation issue is indeed caused by the converter. Conduct thorough checks and diagnostics to determine if the converter needs replacement.
🔔 Inspect the Emission System: Prior to converter replacement, inspect the entire emission system, including oxygen sensors, exhaust pipes, and other related components. Ensure that other parts of the emission system are free from faults or damages to avoid affecting the performance of the new converter.
🔔 Select the Right Converter: Choose an appropriate model and specification of the converter that matches your vehicle. Ensure the new converter matches the original equipment and complies with the vehicle’s requirements and legal regulations.
🔔 Proper Installation: When installing the new converter, follow the guidelines and recommendations provided by the manufacturer. Ensure the converter is installed correctly and properly connected to other parts of the emission system.
🔔 Check Connections: After installing the new converter, inspect all connections, including exhaust pipe and oxygen sensor connections. Ensure the connections are secure and use suitable sealing materials to prevent gas leaks.
Reset Vehicle’s Computer: After replacing the converter, it may be necessary to reset the vehicle’s computer to clear any existing fault codes. This can be done through connecting a vehicle diagnostic tool or using methods compatible with the vehicle’s electronic system.
🔔 Testing and Adjustment: After installing the new converter, conduct tests to ensure the emission system is functioning correctly. Make necessary adjustments to optimize performance and emissions.
By addressing these issues and carefully considering each step before installing the new converter, you can ensure proper installation and operation of the new converter, thus resolving emission errors or engine rotation issues.

For thoroughly fixing engine light issue caused by MIL code po420 or p0430, before replacing catalytic converter, please exclude these common failures that also may cause check engine light on:
- The age of spark plugs
- 02 sensor damaged or failed
- Retarded spark timing
- Leaking fuel injector or high fuel pressure
- Cylinder misfire or oil contamination
- The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
- Downstream oxygen sensor (ho25) wiring damaged or connected improperly
Converters are designed to last the life of a vehicle. If your converter needs to be replaced it may be due to an emissions error/problem in your engine tuning. Converters that overheat due to engine problems may turn blue or bronze. These problems must be corrected BEFORE installation of a new converter. A compromised catalytic converter causes your engine to misfire, lowering your vehicles fuel efficiency and causing it to emit harmful pollutants.
