Why this duct is an upgrade, not just a replacement 1 Dual-polymer construction — the right material in each place
A single material cannot do both jobs on this part. The visible body needs surface quality, colour depth and impact resistance. The rear mounts need toughness and fatigue resistance under clip load. Building the whole duct from one polymer means compromising one of those.
So we do not. The main body is moulded in PC/ABS — chosen for its impact strength, its dimensional stability through the heat cycling this area sees behind the rear quarter, and the depth of gloss it holds. The rear mounting structure is PC-PBT, the toughest material we run, specified purely to keep the clips intact.
2 PC-PBT mounts — where these parts normally break
Clips are the failure point on every trim part of this type. They take the entire installation load, they take every thermal cycle, and on the original part they crack at the root.
PC-PBT is used here specifically because it resists that. It holds impact toughness under load rather than going brittle, which is what keeps a clip attached during fitting and attached three summers later. Clip geometry, engagement depth and mounting positions are reverse-engineered from a scanned factory part, so the improvement is in the material and the root section, not in a shape that would compromise fitment.

Left and right are separate mouldings with separate factory part numbers. Both are produced to the same material specification and the same gloss finish, so a single replacement matches an existing duct on the opposite side.

Professional installation is mandatory for this part. The duct locates on precision clip points and, on some cars, requires partial removal of adjacent trim to seat correctly. Clip engagement must be even across the mounting face.
Do not lever, twist or force the duct into position, and do not apply pressure to the vane section. The PC-PBT mounts are there to survive a correct installation, not to make an incorrect one safe.
