order to avoid the fault caused by the dirt entering the steering oil circuit, the plug on each oil port of steering pump of steering gear shall be opened before connecting the oil pipe, and the oil pipe and plug shall be carefully cleaned and deburred.
2. Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position.
3. Clean the mounting bracket of the steering gear and relevant mating surfaces of the steering gear.
4. For the adjustable steering column, use a suitable rope to pass through the space of the cross fork of the steering shaft, hang the steering shaft, and connect the steering shaft and the input shaft of the steering gear.
5. Turn the steering gear to the middle position to align the relevant marks at the input end and output end of the steering gear.
6. Install the steering gear on the mounting base and tighten the fixing bolts.
7. Universal joint or coupling between mounting column and steering gear.
8. For the adjustable steering column, the upper end seal of the steering gear shall not be damaged when the universal joint is installed.
9. Keep the steering wheel in straight ahead position.
10. Put the pitman arm on the steering gear to align the two marks.
11. Tighten the locknut according to the specified torque and rivet (anti loose pit)

How to Correct Steering Wheel Play / Pulling After New Steering Gear Installation
Tools Needed: Tire pressure gauge, basic wrench set, (optional) diagnostic scanner.
Step 1: Check the Basics (Don't Skip This!)
Tire Pressure: Inflate both front tires to the exact PSI recommended on your vehicle’s door placard. Uneven pressure is the #1 cause of pulling.
Hardware Check: With the vehicle on the ground, have someone wiggle the steering wheel slightly while you visually inspect the tie rod ends and steering shaft universal joint. If there is visible play here, tighten them securely.
Step 2: Find the "Mechanical Center" (Crucial for Alignment)
Turn the steering wheel fully to the left lock, then fully to the right lock, counting the total turns.
Turn it back to exactly half of that total number. This is the steering gear's center point.
Now check: At this center point, are your front wheels pointing perfectly straight ahead?
If YES, proceed to Step 3.
If NO, remove the steering wheel and re-center it, or adjust the tie rods to equalize the length.
Step 3: The "Engine On" Test (Differentiating Normal Play)
Do not test the steering play with the engine off. The internal torsion bar design creates a natural "free play" when unpowered.
Start the engine. Let the power steering fluid circulate (or EPS power up). Now, gently turn the wheel. Does the free play reduce or disappear? If yes, your gear is functioning normally.
Step 4: Adjust Internal Gear Mesh (For Hydraulic/Manual Gears Only)
Locate the adjustment screw/locknut on top of the steering gear.
Caution: Do not overtighten! Tighten the screw to 55-60 N·m torque, then back it off 1/8 of a turn as your starting point.
Test drive. If play is still excessive at this setting, the gear may require professional evaluation.
Step 5: EPS Zero-Position Calibration (Electronic Power Steering ONLY)
IMPORTANT: If your vehicle has EPS, the new gear will NOT work correctly until the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) is re-calibrated.
This usually requires a professional diagnostic tool (e.g., Launch, Autel) to perform "Steering Zero Point Learning". Please ask your mechanic to perform this step first. (Note: Only TOS-type low-end EPS may not require this).
Step 6: Final Resort - Wheel Alignment
If all steps above fail, go to a shop for a front-end wheel alignment (Toe adjustment). Replacing the gear doesn't change geometry, but removing the tie rods often alters the toe setting, which directly causes the steering wheel to be off-center.

Check the oil pipe connection and O-ring. It is recommended to replace the hydraulic pipe O-ring with a new one before installation.
