- PREMIUM QUALITY rubber seal ring for the turbo inlet. Very strong, tear resistant, will not get hard or brittle over time.
- Made in USA by the sellerto serve the vintage Mercedes market.
This turbo inlet sealing ring will fit om617 turbodiesel engines found in w123 chassis Mercedes models made from 1982-1985 and w116 and w126 300SD models made from 1978-1985 EXCEPT California models (which came with small diameter air filter housing lid)If you\'re tired of the cheap seals wearing out after only a couple years, this one will be a great improvement. The original material was made out of a cheaper rubber that hardened like a rock and was not heat resistant to oil and heat cycles. Often I would remove these old seals and they\'d be as hard as plastic and/or snap. My seal ring will remain supple and flexible since it is made out of an aerospace grade material designed for extreme use.
YES, it is expensive. These are literally made one at a time, not in some big production run in a factory. I would love to have the operating budget and facilities of Mercedes to do a massive production run of 10,000 or more units and reduce costs, but that is simply not realistic since there\'s not enough demand out there for a large production run. So the price \"it is what it is\", and be thankful someone like me is even offering them as a much needed solution to Mercedes enthusiasts trying to keep their classic cars on the road. Thanks for understanding.
COMBINED SHIPPING:I can combine/reduce shipping on multiple items if you want or upgrade it if you buy both this seal and the turbocharger seal and/or other items at the same time. Just message me with your preference. If I don\'t hear from you then I will use my best judgement based on your location/distance.
INSTALLATION NOTE:I use Kent\'s advice and trim off the outer lip of the \"U\" shaped snorkel tube. Then I place this grooved seal directly onto the air filter housing and then the modified \"U\" shaped snorkel tube slides on much easier. It goes without saying that the hose clamps on both the air filter housing end and the turbocharger end should be loosened prior to installation.. Once fitment is verified, re-tighten the hose clamp on the U-shaped tube.
