Install a cabin filter in your late model Jeep Wrangler TJ! These vehicles never included one from the factory and instead just blow exterior air directly into the cabin. If you have ever been on a dusty road in your Jeep, you know how bad this is. Not only does it get your interior dirty and make you breathe the dust, but it can clog up your heater core. This adapter allows you to install a proper cabin filter over the under-cowl interior air intake to reduce dust, pollen and other contaminants from making it into your cabin.
Included is a custom-designed TPU double-lip seal that fits between the adapter base and the body of your vehicle. This provides improved resistance to dust ingress that might bypass the filter on the bottom side. It also prevents moisture from wicking its way underneath the adapter between it and the sheet metal. Jeep bodies are known to have significant manufacturing differences and this seal helps to ensure a tight fit on all vehicles.
This version of the filter adapter includes an additional shroud that serves as a splash guard. Normally this should not be necessary because the flange around the air inlet is designed to let moisture run down to the center cowl drain. However, if you have a damaged or modified cowl cover, you may prefer this version with extra protection. The cover fits over the regular filter adapter itself and is held in place by the same screws. The filter adapter included here is the same as my other listings - the cover just sits on top.
Installation is easy and requires only a screwdriver to remove the cowl and install the adapter. After that, replacing the filter is as easy as lifting out the old one and putting in a new one. A filter and longer screws are included so this package is ready to install when it arrives.This takes a standard cabin filter which is used on later Jeep Wrangler models, Jeep/Mopar part number 55111302AA. The Fram FDC11777 will fit, but any other brand for a 2011-2013 Jeep Wrangler will work as well. - This is intended to fit 2000-2006 Wrangler/TJ/LJ models. (NOTE that models back to 1998 have been reported to fit just fine, but the service manual shows additional ducting that may need to be removed. I have seen 2000s with and without this ducting and some early models also have a different style of inlet without screw holes and a different shape. If your Jeep is 2001 or older, definitely check under your cowl before ordering to make sure it is shaped like the pictures and that there are screw holes for mounting.
- Be sure to confirm that your Jeep has an intake under the front cowl with mounting holes like the one pictured before ordering. Message me for details first if you are unsure and I will be glad to help you determine what you have.
- You should be able to re-use the factory screws from the intake boot, but due to differences in Jeep manufacturing tolerances, you may need longer hardware
- This is a retrofit and as such it does not form a perfect seal and will not prevent all dust and contaminants from reaching the cabin
- This is a 3D-printed part using ASA (ABS) and TPU (for the seal). Color and finish may vary. Heat tolerance of 200F is typical.
