You don't buy a super coupe like the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG because you need it; you buy it because you want it. Churning out a staggering 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque the V12 S65 AMG Coupe will go from 0-60 mph in a dizzying 4.0-seconds flat onto a top speed of 186 mph.
The massive twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine of the S65 AMG Coupe features strengthened internal components and is built following the one man, one engine philosophy, with the engine builder's signed plaque affixed to carbon fiber engine cover at the Affalterbach AMG facility.
The big coupe's power is channeled through AMG's Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission. Manual control is achieved via paddle shifters. The transmission offers three shifting modes, one of which will activate the start/stop technology, which will be a must for those looking to be environmentally responsible.
While the V8-powered S63 AMG Coupe will come with all-wheel drive, the V12 S65 AMG Coupe will only be available with rear-wheel drive, as the big engine takes up the additional space needed to fit Mercedes-Benz's 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
When the road gets curvy the S65 AMG Coupe is brought under control by its standard Magic Body Control and Active Road Scan technology. The system allows the S65 AMG Coupe to lean into corners and will operate effectively while cornering all the way up to 111 mph.
Aiding in the handling effectiveness is an AMG Sport suspension, as well as weight savings brought by a 44-pound lighter lithium-ion battery and reduced rotating mass thanks to a ceramic brake package and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels.Fast, powerful and big, the S65 AMG Coupe is a car that fulfills both the needs and wants of any luxury coupe buyer.
