The listing here gets you a full rebuild of all shaft seals on all 11-12 cylinders (early model years had 12, later ones 11), polishing of the chrome shafts, honing the inside of the cylinder body, and return shipping back to your address.
The cars covered include all models SL280, SL300, SL320, SL500, SL600, SL60, SL73 years 1989-2002. You send in your cylinders to me, I rebuild them, and send them back to you on my dime. My usual turn around is 1-3 days. Should there be any issues with the rebuild, such as bend rods or pistons, I'll contact you before proceeding further.

I am an avid auto addict with a small shop in the Dallas,TX, area, specializing in German cars of BMW, Audi, Mercedes, and Porsche makesand models. The R129 is one of my favorite timeless German classics (I own2), but as everything in this world, it's not perfect. The hydraulic tops inthese cars, while way ahead of their time in terms of hydraulic and mechanicalengineering, did not utilize superior materials in their construction, simplybecause modern materials didn't exist 20 years ago. The seal material used inthe cylinders decays with time, regardless of mileage or use. I saw cars with200k miles and 26k miles have the same problem: a leaking hydraulic top. Hencewhy I decided to take matters into my own hands. I designed my own dual lipseals and commissioned a German seal manufacturer to make then out of modern Viton rubber, being extra corrosion resistant while simultaneously remainingflexible to avoid pinching and deteriorating inside the cylinders.
