About this master cylinder
The brake master cylinder turns the push on your pedal into the hydraulic pressure that applies every brake on the car. When its seals wear, the pressure leaks past them inside the cylinder, and that shows up as a pedal that feels soft or slowly sinks to the floor.
This is a new master cylinder, not a rebuilt one, so there\'s no old unit to send back and no core charge.
- Precision bore: machined to the original bore size for the same pedal travel and feel as the factory part.
- New seals: fresh, fluid-resistant seals that hold pressure, with no leaks between the front and rear circuits.
- OE-style fit: made to match the original mounting, ports and pushrod, so it bolts on where the old one came off.
- Signs it\'s time: a pedal that sinks while you hold it, a soft or spongy pedal that won\'t firm up after bleeding, the brake warning light, falling fluid level with no leak at the wheels, or fluid where the master cylinder meets the booster.
Installing: bench-bleed the master cylinder before it goes on the car, then bleed the whole system, starting at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. Some ABS systems need a scan tool to cycle the ABS unit while bleeding. Use the brake fluid your owner\'s manual calls for. Brakes are safety parts: if you\'re not sure, have a professional fit it, and test the pedal before you drive.
