The ARCO 5389 starter fits BRP-OMC Johnson and Evinrude outboards — 25, 40, and 50 HP from 1989 and up, and 2-cylinder 48–50 HP from 1990 and up — replacing OMC 583482, 585056, 586279, and Mallory 9-15034.
Tooth count is the critical spec. ARCO builds drive gears in 8, 9, 10, and 11-tooth configurations across adjacent part numbers — DV380 is 8-tooth, DV386 is 10-tooth, and DV373 is 8-tooth. They look similar and will not interchange. Count the teeth on your existing drive before ordering.
