Antique New York Coil Co. Master Vibrator Model FX, manufactured in New York, U.S.A. This is an early automotive electrical/ignition component from the Brass Era of motoring.
The unit is housed in a heavy finger-jointed wooden box with its original embossed metal faceplate prominently marked “NEW YORK COIL CO. / NEW YORK, U.S.A. / MASTER VIBRATOR / MODEL FX.” The controls are marked BAT, OFF and MAG for battery and magneto operation.
Features the original switches, knobs, terminals, mounting hardware and metal brackets. The wooden case has attractive age and patina, with wear, scratches, oxidation, surface rust and soiling consistent with many decades of use and storage.
Appears substantially complete, but it has not been electrically tested and is being sold as an antique collectible/display piece as-is. No attempt has been made to clean, polish, restore or alter the original finish.
A scarce piece of early American automotive electrical equipment that would make an excellent addition to a Brass Era automobile, early ignition, automotive electrical, garage, service station or automobilia collection.
