Restored 1946 Elgin 1.2 HP Air-Cooled Outboard Motor + Display Stand
Beautifully restored 1946 Elgin 1.2 HP air-cooled outboard motor, offered primarily as a display piece. The custom display stand shown in the photos is included with Buy It Now.
This is one of the smallest and lightest outboards of its era, and its unusual air-cooled design makes it an especially interesting piece of vintage marine history. The restoration was completed with exceptional attention to detail, making this motor as much a piece of Americana art as it is an antique outboard.
The motor was completely disassembled during restoration. Components were cleaned and, where appropriate, polished, plated, or refinished. The result is a striking display piece that looks fantastic in a home, office, shop, restaurant, bar, showroom, or collection.
The engine does turn over and has compression, but it is being sold as a display piece only. Due to its age, I cannot guarantee that it will start or run. I typically drain the fluids and lubricate the motor before storage/shipping so there are no concerns with leaking fluids or old fuel odors.
If someone wanted to return it to regular operating condition, I would expect it to need a few gaskets and a general mechanical inspection/service before being run reliably.
