Champion Cooling Systems CC251B All-Aluminum Radiator for Select 1960-1966 Ford.
With custom overflow tank my friend made for it too ..From JEGS Website - Where I ordered it from.
This was in my 1966 Ford Mustang GT-350R Clone mustang and is actually one of 3 that I had in there (this one was next to last, and was running this one with an electric cooling fan instead of belt driven - you can see the circle marks on the radiator face if you look close where the rubber gasket around the ring of the fan pressed against it).
There is nothing wrong with this radiator, we were chasing a problem with the motor and heat and such that was 95% the result of of the motor build shop destroying my perfectly good motor for a ton of money to boot …. from the main seal blowing with 200 miles on the car, to valves chattering with less than 200 miles on it, to it being bored 60 over instead of a 20 to 40 MAX per contract) and on and on and on …..
I was getting desperate after 2 + years of fighting motor problem after motor problem chasing one symptom after the next …( and I just started replacing parts with brand new parts, even when they were barely 1 or 2 years old like this one ……but none of it is an issue any longe as lower end went out/thrust bearring out with less than a few thousand miles on that super duper expense rebuild by Watson Ruppel ..worst engine builders of all time).
Pulled the electric fan and this radiator and replaced with another 3-row aluminum radiator, new hoses, thermostat, thermostat housing, etc etc etc ….and surprise surprise…still overheated.
In the end we ended up going to a radiator with inlets and outlets on the same side and diff water pump setup and so on to compensate for the motor issues, but it did finally keep it moderately cool anyway, even though we till knew it wasn’t right and this wasn’t the right solution to have had to pursue ….but like I said I was desperate and down to just replacing part by part with new parts and everything they touched with new parts …. I’ve loved this car longer than I’ve had kids (oldest is 23 years old now) and that rip-off motor shop destroyed it …the car…my love of it, my kids love of it … and so on …
NOT THAT YOU NEEDED TO KNOW ANY OF THAT TO UNDERSTAND WHERE THE RADIATOR CAME FROM AND WAS USED!!! But my blood boils anytime the mustang …comes up in conversation or typing …
Radiator probably has 2000 miles on it maybe …over 3-4 years of running in between times when we did get to drive it for a week here or there before the next motor problem came about..and the next mechanic went through (what they could see on the outside anyway) …and helped me try the next thing …CC251B All-Aluminum Radiator for Select 1960-1966 Ford & Mercury Vehicles [3/4 in.
