CV Axle Installation Steps:
Lift the vehicle, remove wheel and drain axle fluid if needed.
Unfasten axle nut, separate lower control arm to free steering knuckle.
Pry inner CV joint out of transmission/differential housing.
Slide old CV axle out from wheel hub assembly.
Install new axle, align splines into hub and transaxle.
Reattach knuckle, tighten axle nut to specified torque.
Refit wheel, lower vehicle and test drive for vibration or noise.
How to Inspect CV Axle Wear (Short Points):
Check rubber CV boots for cracks, tears, grease leaks or dryness.
Twist the axle by hand to feel loose, clunking or excessive play in inner/outer CV joints.
Turn steering wheel fully left and right, listen for clicking noises while rolling slowly.
Inspect splines on both ends for rust, scoring or stripped teeth.
Examine axle shaft for bends, dents, corrosion or deformation.
Road test at acceleration to check for vibration under load.
CV Axle Maintenance Tips:
Regularly check CV rubber boots for cracks, tears and grease leakage.
Replace damaged boots immediately and refill high-temperature CV joint grease.
Clean dirt, mud and corrosive substances off axles after off-road driving.
Avoid sharp impacts and deep potholes to prevent bent axle shafts.
Inspect joint play and clicking noises during every routine vehicle service.
Keep the axle splines lightly greased when disassembling for repair.
