HIZUKI Points Cover for Suzuki GT750 - Billet Aluminium, All Models, GT750 is fifty years old, and the parts that finish the engine'sappearance are the ones that did not survive.
Points covers get scraped in falls, corroded through by decades of moisturesitting in the recess, and cracked by someone forcing a bolt fifty yearsago. They also get lost - removed for an ignition job in 1983 and neverfound again.
Suzuki stopped supplying them a long time ago.
HIZUKI make them in Japan, machined from aluminium alloy, with the SUZUKIlogo. They are a Japanese specialist in obsolete motorcycle parts - thekind of operation that exists because the machines outlived the factory'sinterest in supporting them.
The cover matters more on this engine than on most. The GT750's water-cooledtwo-stroke triple has a wide, flat engine case with very little elsehappening on that side, so the points cover is what your eye lands on. Acorroded or missing one on an otherwise sorted Water Buffalo isconspicuous.

Suzuki produced the GT750 from 1971 to 1977 across the J, K, L, M, A and Bmodel years, with changes along the way - drum to disc brakes, carburettorrevisions, and cosmetic updates.

This is a HIZUKI product, manufactured in Japan. It is not a Suzuki genuinepart, and it is not sold as one - Suzuki genuine covers for this engine havenot been available for many years.
What is available is reproduction, and the question is who made it andwhere. HIZUKI are a Japanese specialist supplying the obsolete motorcyclemarket, and this is machined in Japan from aluminium alloy.
CHECK THE SEAL
A points cover keeps water out of the ignition recess. If your original hasbeen missing or ill-fitting, water has been getting in, and the points,condenser, and advance mechanism behind it have had a hard life.

O-RING OR GASKETPlease see the photographs for whether a seal is supplied with this cover.If it is not, the seal is what makes the cover do its job, and it is worthsourcing one before fitting.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTENThe cover mounts to a fifty-year-old aluminium engine case. Those threadshave been through five decades and are not what they were.
Tighten enough to seat the cover and no further. If a thread feels wrong,stop - a helicoil is a manageable job, a stripped case is not.
ALUMINIUM NEEDS PROTECTINGMachined aluminium on the side of an engine takes road spray and moisture.Keep it clean and consider a light protective wax, particularly if the bikeis ridden in wet weather or stored somewhere damp.
Do not use aggressive wheel cleaners or acidic products on it.
GT750 PARTS COME FROM JAPANProduction ended in 1977. Suzuki genuine parts for this engine are long outof supply, and what exists now is made by Japanese specialists for theowners who kept the bikes.
