Coolant is responsible for transferring the heat of the engine out to the radiator bay to be dispersed into the air.The thermostat housing and the thermostat itself are two different components and do not necessarily need to be replaced together or at the same time. The housing is just a piece that covers the thermostat that also has an opening for a radiator hose which is where the water enters and exits the motor.Radiator hoses can connect to housing. In many engines, the thermostat housing serves as the coolant outlet and is located on either the cylinder block or intake manifold. Coolant typically flows out of the housing, through a large hose, and into the radiator.FEATURES:
1) This design replaced half of the original thermostat housing and requires you to keep half of the plastic housing for street car use. It uses a threaded -16 port that allows you to easily convert to 12AN or 16AN radiator hoses. This swivel neck allows 360 rotation to position your radiator hose perfectly. Includes fan switch port, 3/8NPT port, and 1/8NPT port. 3/8NPT and 1/8NPT plugs included (Fan switch plug sold separately).2) This thermostat is designed to bolt directly to the water pump housing.
3) It offers the same -16AN port to easily switch coolant fittings (1.25" Hose, 12AN, or 16AN).
4) It also rotates 360 degrees allowing you to position the outlet to fit your setup perfectly.
5) What is different with this housing is the two 3/8NPT ports located behind the thermostat. These allow you to properly run the recirculation hose and heat. This is important because when the thermostat is closed coolant will still be able to flow through the ports behind the thermostat. This will offer proper warm-up with coolant flowing from block to head while the thermostat is closed (same as OEM design).
6) There is also a 1/8 NPT port for optional sensor (plug included) and a blind port for Fan Switch. This is not fully drilled so no plug is needed. However, if you want to run fan switch simply drill a hole in the center. The port is already tapped.PACKAGE INCLUDES:
