Many Kia and Hyundai vehicles suffer from a weak antenna housing. The top cover of this antenna housing can be easily ripped off in a car wash. After the top cover is ripped off, the electronics below are exposed to the elements and are subject to further damage.
Unfortunately, the cost to repair this antenna at a dealership involves replacing the entire antenna module from the underside of the roof. This requires the headliner to be lowered which is a labor intensive operation. Parts and labor can exceed $1,000. This is simply too much to invest in these vehicles for this repair.
This item is not a factory replacement cover. It was carefully designed and 3d printed to be installed from the outside of the vehicle using included automotive grade adhesive foam (3m VHB Tape). This eliminates the hassle of removing interior trim and dropping the headliner. Produced from impact and UV resistant ASA material, this cover is tough! This cover is slightly larger than the factory module to allow it to adhere to the roof of the car around the original antenna module and protect the entire antenna assembly below.
Installation of items using VHB adhesive requires a bit of surface preparation and care. Please follow the instructions in the package to make sure you take the necessary preparatory steps to ensure a good bond. With proper installation, this antenna module cover will last for years to come.
If in doubt that this will fit, send me a side and a top view photo of your antenna base.
