Accordion gaiters are real good at condensing and holding moisture. The cobweb picture shows what was accumulated under the gaiter on our bike when we removed it - and the gaiter itself had a wad of similar trash inside.
There is no retention rib molded into the inside of the fork boot. Use on 46mm diameter forks, as on the XR650R, requires some stretch.

Please note that these Fork Boots are not seals, they are dust covers concealing the seal that lives in the fork leg; they are not precision made items like the fork seal and small irregularities of the lip surface are sometimes found on them as well as thickness variations of the non-concentric boot wall due to manufacturing technique. They appear to be made by a stamping process rather than injectionmolding. See last photo in series as an example of what they look like up close. This does not impair function, but it might look scary, like the full light of morning on last night\'s adventure... well, not THAT bad, just less than perfect appearance but only noticeable if you\'re really looking close.
