Great solution for your Vintage 70's and 80's YAMAHA XS.THIS IS A 4 Wire Starter Button and Kill Switch combo.It can be adapted to a 3 wire system, like on the XS750 and later XS1100
THIS COMES COMPLETE WITH THE CORRECTWiring harness replacement CONNECTOR - (4 pin male),and brass terminals,ToWORK WITH THE FEMALE 4 PIN CONNECTOR ON THE SWITCH PIGTAIL.
You will need to splice in the supplied connector/terminals.
IF you do NOT need the connector and terminals,(maybe you want to cut your old connector off and splice it on)LET ME KNOW AND I WILL REFUND YOU $5.00 (my cost of connector and terminal pins)NOTE: this is not a plug n play connector. (until you fit the supplied connector)
The XS11 and some other XS models use pin type round connectors, which do not work well over time.
The best option is to upgrade to the supplied 4 wire Male spade connector on the wiring harness side.I provide the connectors to be used for this upgrade!
This will ensure easy fitment 40 years from now when the plastic goes badon the kill switchand starter buttons,just like it is doing now with the one you are replacing!!! lol :-)Otherwise,You will have to source a pin type connector to replace the connector this switch assembly,(only for concours restorations),or cut off your old one.
WIRE COLORS:
BROWN- HOT, goes to Kill SwitchRED/WHITE- HOT, goes to Kill SwitchBLUE/WHITE- HOT, goes to starter button backing plateBLACK- GROUND Grounds switch housing for starter button circuit.NOTES ON 3 wire bikes:usually, your two red wires go to the kill switch, and your blue wire goes to the starter button.Sometimes the switch housing is grounded through the handlebars.If after installation it doesnt work with only three wires,You will have to run a ground wire to your frame, from the black wire on my connector.
