Up for sale is a remarkably complete, vintage 1960s Wen-Mac (AMF) Lotus Indianapolis "500" gas-powered tether/control-line race car. Modeled after the historic mid-engined Lotus 38 that captured the 1965 Indy 500, this lot is an exceptional find for vintage toy restorers and tether car collectors alike.
The highlight of this particular lot is that it includes TWO engines:
1. Car-Mounted Engine: The original Wen-Mac .049 glow engine is visibly installed and housed inside the rear compartment of the chassis, complete with the cylinder head and glow plug properly positioned.
2. Accessory-Mounted Engine: A bonus second, standalone Wen-Mac .049 glow engine is included, neatly mounted on the black circular display/starter accessory base.
Condition Details:
* Lotus Racer Body: The yellow plastic body is in fine estate condition. It shows normal light play wear, common minor scuffs, and storage dust, but remains structurally sound. Crucially, it retains its original driver figure, steering wheel, clear windshield, chrome-finned exhaust stack detailing, and race number 89 decals. The wheels and tires are fully attached.
* Engines (UNTESTED): Both engines are visually complete with pull-starter assemblies and cylinder heads. They are sold exactly as found from an estate—completely untested for compression, rotation, or functionality. They may require standard cleaning/degumming from old fuel.
* Original Box & Paperwork: Includes the original cardboard box lid featuring bold, classic graphics and the distinctive blue promotional banner reading "NEW! Sensational Throttle Speed Control - A Wen-Mac Exclusive." The box lid shows typical vintage shelf wear and corner softening. Also included are the original, factory-printed instruction sheets detailing the “Attach Drag Strip Guide Line” and “Circular Speed Calculation” steps.
* Accessories: Comes with the original Wen-Mac Engine Starting Accessories box and authentic tether/control lines wound on their cardboard rolls.
